On the beach in Keywest, FL

I am a New Englander born and raised. I spent every summer in Maine at our cottage near the beach so I always had two separate lives and two separate sets of friends. I had always watched tv and envisioned myself going to far-off places. During college I spent a summer in Colorado working as a wrangler on a dude ranch. One summer I went to Fairbanks, AK and spent my summer working at the dog mushing museum there. Steve is a native Oregonian and left home at 18 to join the U.S. Navy and then ended up moving to Colorado and skiing 300 days out of year in Crested Butte. He then moved to Maine where he lived for 13 years working in his trade. Steve and I met in Maine and married in June of 1994. The next day we packed all of our things and with no jobs and no specific place to go, we headed West to Oregon. The trip across the country was something that I had dreamed of doing since I was a teenager. We have been seeking adventure and on the move ever since. We have climbed mountains, rock climbed, sky-dived, mountain biked, and golfed all over the country and have done it all while living in luxury because we have had our moving house with us!
Rving was something that we never could have imagined ourselves doing at one time. We are not “retired” nor are we really “over the hill”. Fifty is over the horizon for me at this point in time. I still haven’t caught up with Steve. LOL We are having fun and seeing places we never would have planned to see and meeting people we never would have met if we had stayed in our town and kept doing what we were doing.
What we have learned is the term “simplicity” takes on a whole new meaning when you can’t take all of your “stuff” with you and “home” is wherever you are with whoever in your life means the most to you.

Happy Travels,
Susan and Steve
