Product Description |
| Travels with Susie is an account of the comings and goings of the Author, his wife, Susie and their RV, 'Fionna', The book is a hilarious report of their experiences as they first went through the decision to retire and later, to travel the byways of North America. Part travelogue, part monologue, part History primer and part pieces of the author's vivid imagination, the book is all entertainment. The stories found in these pages will appeal to not only RV'ers but to anyone who is looking for a laugh or an occasional bit of inspiration. Many of the stories first saw life as fodder for the Author's self syndicated newspaper and magazine columns. Ride along with Susie and the author as they visit Luckenbach, Texas, searching for Willie Nelson and real cowboys. Sit on a bench with the Author along the Mexican border and discover the little known and scandalous secret of a major time saving device. Wade ashore in the Florida Keys with Cuban refugees and later, toss your cookies with Susie on the rough seas of the Gulf of Mexico. Share a sprig of Buffalo grass with Randolph Scott. Meet Paul Bunyon's grandson, still living in the North Woods of British Columbia and hang on for the 2000 mile drive as the author and his wife race to reach Indiana and their seriously ill daughter. And finally, discover that when the author is not making a fool of himself, he is unwittingly realizing what life is really all about as he learns more about our world than he ever expected to know. |

Don't Miss This Book!

| Review Date: August 16, 2007 |
| Reviewer: S. Wood, |
| I read this book in one enjoyable afternoon. I just couldn't seem to put it down. I laughed out loud several times. Gordon Grindstaff has a way of making you wish he and Susie would take you along on their next excursion. I highly recommend this book. |
nostril snortin' laughter
|
| Review Date: March 1, 2008 |
| Reviewer: S. Acton, Montana, USA |
| I bought this book because of my fascination with people who are willing to uproot from their homes, get rid of most of their wordly possessions and travel full-time in an RV. My plan was to take this book with me to read on the plane while flying to Florida. My mistake was to pick it up a few days earlier just to read a "few" pages. Four hours later, after many bouts of laughing out loud and as one reviewer wrote "snorting laughter through my nostrils" I finished the book. This is a book I plan on reading many times, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Gordon Grindstaff should write more, he is an excellent humorist. |
G2 Rides Into the Sunset of Life in his RV
|
| Review Date: January 28, 2007 |
| Reviewer: S. Young, Indiana, USA |
| Gordon's witty insights into RV travel in America will keep you in stitches. There is even a bit of humor found in a time of desperation while returning home for an unexpected turn in his daughter's pregnancy. His small town, midwestern background shines through in the beginning of his journey into retirement. While reading this book, I couldn't help but feel that he is very much like the character Ralphie in "A Christmas Story" with his dreams of being a cowboy and saving the world from evil with his Red Ryder bb gun. Join G2 as he travels into that Golden Age and conquers his fears with his beloved "Susie" to keep him grounded in reality. |
